Jen Leo: Travel Media Maven
Jen is a world traveler with the passport to prove it. She has lived abroad and traveled extensively through Europe, Asia, North America and Australia. Her travels provided her with the fodder to enter print journalism, starting her career at Travelers’ Tales where she edited an award-winning five-book travel series. She moved very early into the blogosphere (WrittenRoad) with popular travel brand Bootsnall Travel Network. Subsequently she launched the Los Angeles Times travel blog, as well as blogs for Weblogs, Inc., Six Apart, and SFO Media.
She currently writes the nationally syndicated Web Buzz column for the Los Angeles Times, writes for various publications, including Conde Nast Traveler, EpicMoms.com, TravelSavvyMom.com and Poshbrood.com. For the last four years, she has produced a weekly podcast “This Week in Travel,” available on iTunes, publishes “Las Vegas Deals” online newsletter, and co-founded the popular review site BestKidsApps.com for tech-savvy parents like herself.
Considered a social media evangelist, Jen excels in ferreting out new sources for promotion and is always ahead of the curve in this arena. An early adopter of Twitter, she earned a coveted spot on Christopher Elliott’s list of “50 Travel Twitterers You Should Follow.” Not one to rest on her laurels, she can be found sharing her knowledge and wisdom on panels and presentations at the Los Angeles Times Travel Show, Book Passage Travel Writers’ Conference, and TBEX: The Future of Travel Media.
When Jen is not on a plane, she can be found in her Southern California home, which she shares with her husband and young daughter.
